Our story

Three generations of selling cars we can't afford to keep

Harris & Sons began, as all great institutions do, by complete accident. Since then we've sold magnificent motorcars to people who absolutely did not need them, and we've loved every minute.

1

1963

An accidental beginning

Reginald Harris visits a liquidation auction intending to buy a sandwich. He returns owning a coachbuilder, four chassis, and a parrot. Harris & Sons is founded on the spot.

2

1971

The first proper showroom

We move into a converted cinema on Cobblesworth Lane. The projector room becomes the accounts office. The popcorn machine stays until 1989.

3

1984

The purple era begins

A mislabeled tin of paint turns the entire signage fleet lavender. Reginald declares it 'distinguished' and refuses to repaint. We have been purple ever since.

4

1999

Millennium, survived

Y2K arrives. Our cars, being mechanical and deeply unbothered, do not notice. The fax machine briefly gains sentience, then loses it again.

5

2010

Biscuit joins the team

A spaniel wanders in during a rainstorm and is appointed Head of Security within the hour. Her record is flawless: she has not once noticed a burglar.

Today

Powered by DealerOffice

The site you're reading is a live demonstration — every car, price, and pun updates instantly from DealerOffice. Reginald would have called it witchcraft. We call it Tuesday.
